Tilt or touch: which control scheme actually wins

Tilt or touch: which control scheme actually wins

February 20, 2026 · Lukas Brandt

Every racing game seems to offer tilt and touch controls, and the settings menu rarely tells you which one is better. So we ran the same tracks with both, multiple times, to compare.

Touch controls won for us almost every time. Tilt looks intuitive but your hands drift, your posture matters, and playing on a train becomes a nightmare of overcorrection. Touch keeps the phone still and your inputs precise.

That said, tilt has its fans for a reason. On slower, wider tracks it can feel more immersive, and some people simply steer better with a physical motion. It's worth trying both for a race or two before you commit.

Our advice: whatever you pick, spend five minutes in the settings adjusting sensitivity. The default is almost never right, and a small tweak can turn a frustrating game into a smooth one.
